The 12-Step Remodeling Process
At Ovation Design-Build, we follow a specifically designed, step-by-step process for renovating. This professional procedure allows our clients to understand the various phases of the renovation process and assists the design team, installers, plumbers and electricians in designing and completing the renovation schedule. Understand how your project will operate through this checklist:
1. Meet staff at Ovation Design Build Lake Oswego Studio
At this initial conference at the Ovation Design Studio in Lake Oswego, discuss options available for your remodel project. Supply Ovation with your rough room dimensions and photos. Ovation staff will discuss their “good, better, best” program. This is when parameters of the job will be set and a second appointment will be scheduled where all decision makers must be present.
2. Review initial options at Ovation Design Studio
Meet at the Ovation Design Studio to review three options for your remodel design (“good, better, best.”) Review a budget analysis, including installation. Ovation guarantees that your design will fall within 8 percent of the estimated budget you select. This is when your design agreement is presented.
3. Initial home consultation
With a signed design/retainer agreement, Ovation staff visits your home to gather more information and take measurements and evaluate systems. This is a complete in-home analysis. You will now complete a customer questionnaire.
4. Finalizing the budget and schedule
Next, Ovation’s design team finalizes all dimensions, floor plans, finish schedules and mechanical specifications at the Ovation Design Studio. Plans are made and a final quote is given.
5. Make first deposit, review plans
After you’ve confirmed the final plans at the Ovation Design Studio, the material deposit is made. A preliminary construction schedule is agreed upon at this time. Ovation will create a digitally produced floorplan, perspective and overhead view.
6. Team is put in place
Ovation’s team completes all material orders, work orders and schedules. Ovation then organizes all the contractors needed for your job.
7. A start date is determined
Two weeks prior to your job start, a start date is confirmed via phone or email.
8. Meeting set to confirm & go over details
Two to five days prior to your start date, a pre-construction meeting is held with you, the lead contractors and one of Ovation’s project managers.
Construction has started. An Ovation project manager will be on site, as necessary, and will have daily communication with lead contractors.
10. Last items are addressed, completed
A walk-through is performed and a final punch list of last completion items is agreed upon and executed for completion.
11. Last payment
Your final invoice is settled.
12. Celebrate within your new space
Enjoy your “new” home.
